A vented corn starch dust explosion in an 11.5 m3 vessel is studied using both experimental and numerical methods. The reduced overpressure the recorded two pressure sensors mounted on wall inside of vessel. Unsteady three-dimensional Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes simulations experiment are performed Flame Speed Closure (FSC) model influence turbulence premixed combustion. was thoroughly validated previous studies earlier implemented into OpenFOAM CFD software. self-acceleration a large-scale flame kernel associated with combustion-induced perturbations flow unburned reactants ahead kernel. Accordingly, FSC extended by adapting well-known observations self-similarity acceleration. Influence different models simulated results also explored. Thanks to extension model, measured time-dependence well predicted when k-omega-SST used.
